MARY KATRANTZOU//LYNSEY ALEXANDER

Created by Lynsey Alexander she used the collection's motifs which were hearts and interpreted them into the the makeup with a cupids bow lip. Skin was kept matte setting it with Prime Translucent Powder. Clear gloss applied to the lids. Lips were created using Burgundy Lip Pencil and Retro Matte Liquid Lip in Dance With Me All Over. GARETH PUGH//VAL GARLAND

Val Garland created this look described as "full of filler" or "pillow face" She used highlighter and foundation - M.A.C Mineralised SPF foundation for a dewy effect to the skin - then brushed up the eyebrows and stuck with glue for a surprised effect. With the elastic from tights! - she tied it around the models face to create definition, it lifted the top of the lips adding fullness. Lids were kept bare. All makeup by M.A.C Just brilliant!

HYALURONIC ACID- what's the deal?

structure of the skin

structure of the skin

Hyaluronic Acid is a water loving molecule that occurs naturally in the body. It was originally founded by Karl Meyer in 1934. But it gained major popularity by the World Health Organisation in 2000. In a small village outside Tokyo called YUZURIHARA which had villagers living into their 80's and 90's with smooth, soft skin - it became know as the 'the village of long life" It was discovered that their diet was a combination of root vegetables and starches which doctors believed attributed to the generation of HA.

A major component in bone, cartilage, eyes, connective tissue, lips and skin, its main function is to retain water and lubricate moveable parts of the body i.e. joints and muscles. HA can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water giving skin its plumpness and bounce, sadly though as we age the moisture in our skin depletes. Having a stiff viscous consistency allows HA to be beneficial in skincare. So it makes sense to look at options where we can boost our levels of HA with supplements, creams and even injectables.

Probably one of the best known skincare products that contains HA is Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex 2 it "locks in moisture, creating the optimal conditions for skins natural renewal" http://www.esteelauder.co.uk In other products look for hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate and hyaluronan on the label.

Dr Marc Armangue MD with http://www.medicalaestheticsuk.com gives us the low down on HA in injectables.  "In Aesthetic Medicine the formulation considered gold standard in safety and efficacy is cross-linked hyaluronic acid, a non-permanent filler. HA helps to restore our skin to its former youthful appearance, as a material is injected into the areas where it needs to be plumped up again and made look firmer. I have been using HD in my practice for the last 15 years with great results and although I am trained to use many other fillers, I still believe the HA is second to none"

Painfree waxing anyone?

Outback Organics

In 2010 Outback Organics teamed up with UK Wax Specialist and educator Andy Rouillard to create a complete range of wax related skin product's. Fusing the latest cosmetic ingredient's with innovative natural extract from the coastline, forest's and bushland of Australia the Outback Organics wax range which includes suitably named Bush Balm were developed. This range is designed to be kind to the skin with healing and soothing properties containing ingredients such as Mountain Pepper* Bergamot Orange Oil* and Lemon Myrtle Oil*

Outback Gold is a hot wax that uses advanced polymer technology which means it shrink wraps each hair to effectively remove it from the root. It goes on super thin and dries under 30 secs! Virtually pain free Outback gold, removes even the shortest hairs from the root, encouraging finer re-growth.

Having experienced this wax at http://www.urbanretreat.co.uk on many occasions with the wonderfully efficient Neeta, I'm addicted. It has a much slower regrowth, is super kind to your skin and you can forget about ingrown hairs - I can't get enough. You must try it. A true breakthrough in hot wax I believe!

*Mountain Pepper - The leaves and berries have antimicrobial and antioxidant properties and are use by the locals for aches and pain. Found in the woodland areas of Southeast Australia.

*Bergamot Orange Oil - Antiseptic essential oil with uplifting sweet fruity aroma

*Lemon Myrtle Oil - Antibacterial essential oil from Australia with a fresh citrus fragrance. Used by indigenous people as a tonic and stimulant.
